Reflection on Micro Lesson 2
- Instructional Decisions/Teaching (InTask Standard # 9): Discuss the implementation process and describe
- What went well and what didn't go well during the implementation of your lesson? I think I did a great job at keeping the students engaged since we used a powerpoint, wrote on the smartboard, used pixie and went outside for observations. My timing was super off, but I quickly threw in the pixie activity of making a flyer about the sun. Luckily that took up sometime and my students did not even realize that was not part of my plan.
- How well was the alignment to objectives and standards maintained? The standards said the students need to know that the sun is the natural source of heat and light on earth and my objective said "Students will be able to observe and compare and contrast how it feels and looks in the shade and how it feels and looks in the sun."
- Describe any modifications made during the implementation of the lesson: I added the pixie activity of making a flyer for the sun to fill some time and see what understanding they got.
- Mechanics:
- What technologies did I use (for the teacher and the learner)? I used powerpoint, the smartboard, and pixie.
- How were the technologies used (by whom and in what manner)? The teacher used the powerpoint to present information on the sun, the students used the smartboard to share their observations, and the students used pixie to create a flyer to show their understanding of the information.
- My lesson was within the correct time frame
- The lesson was within the correct time frame because... It was almost way too short until I added the pixie activity. That showed me that I need back up activities to make sure I have plenty of stuff to do if I run out of time.
- Assessment of Learning (InTask Standard # 6): Refer to Assessing Student Learning
- Include at least 2 digital artifacts that demonstrate what you or your students (peers) have created as a result of your lesson
- Here are my student's flyers for the sun:

- Describe your students' level of success in achieving the standards and objectives for your lesson based on your assessment: Based off of the flyers that my student's made, I can see that they absorbed the information in my powerpoint. They wrote some great facts and understood that the sun is a natural source of heat and light.
- Describe the level of success you had in teaching the lesson
- How do your individual reflections support this? I got all 5's, which is fantastic and shows that I integrated technology well and supported my student's learning.
- How do the comments from your classmates support this? They told me I did well and everyone said that they enjoyed how we used different technologies and went outside to make observations.

ReplyDeleteAs you continue to reflect on your teaching, be sure to not only describe what happened, but to also think about how you can use your understandings as you develop and teach lessons in the future.
