- Instructional Decisions/Teaching (InTask Standard # 9): Discuss the implementation process and describe
- What went well and what didn't go well during the implementation of your lesson? For the most part, my lesson was a success. I think that the KWL chart was a vey helpful resource for both the students and myself. One thing that I forgot to provide was a rubric or checklist for the direction books that my students made. Without a rubric, my students were a little bit confused on what exactly was expected.
- How well was the alignment to objectives and standards maintained? The standard stated that the students need to produce a form of functional writing, such as directions. My students created their own direction book on storybird.com to meet this standard.
- Describe any modifications made during the implementation of the lesson: During my lesson, I realized that I was using vocabulary that would be beyond a first graders level. This was difficult because I was not really teaching first graders, but I was trying my hardest to simplify my vocab while explaining instruction.
- Mechanics:
- What technologies did I use (for the teacher and the learner)? My source of technology was storybird.com for both the teacher and the learner.
- How were the technologies used (by whom and in what manner)? I made a model direction book for my students to view on storybid.com and my students did the same thing while creating their own direction book.
- My lesson was within the correct time frame
- The lesson was within the correct time frame because... I made sure to keep track of my time and modify what I would do next to keep within the 30 minutes. After the students created their books, we still had 5 minutes left, so I had each of them read their direction book out loud so others could hear and see it.
- Assessment of Learning (InTask Standard # 6): Refer to Assessing Student Learning
- Include at least 2 digital artifacts that demonstrate what you or your students (peers) have created as a result of your lesson
- Here are the links to my student's direction books:
https://storybird.com/books/how-to-eat-a-hotdog-2/
- Describe your students' level of success in achieving the standards and objectives for your lesson based on your assessment: Each student was successful in making a direction book with clear. Also, I looked at their KWL charts and each student put that they learned how to write directions.
- Describe the level of success you had in teaching the lesson
- How do your individual reflections support this? My survey showed that I got mostly 5's and one 4 for each of my questions. 5 was the highest for being successful, so I believe that I did fairly well on this lesson.
- How do the comments from your classmates support this? I had really helpful comments from my classmates. Most of them gave me a suggestion to use the smartboard to show my model direction book. I will definitely try to use the smartboard in future lessons and appreciate the suggestions from my classmates
